bcb723 The music here is undeniable, with a huge musical debt paid to the Neurosis, Swans, Melvins holy sludge trinity. The ridiculous song titles however are straight from The Darkness. "Our Lady of Perpetually Shitfaced"? "Stiff Upper Lisp"? Glad to see these guys like to have some fucking fun in the gloom, you know? Paired with the sledgehammer musical grunge makes for a pretty enjoyable listen. Favorite track: Urine Trouble Now.

The Midnight Toker. I was fishing in my wish list this morning, came across Slake and finally pulled the trigger. WOORMS provide us with heaping riffs, sludge filled atmosphere along with suffocating bass.
If you like the occasional band/album to punch you in the face this is it. Dont toss this back for a later date, this a prize winner for your collection. Favorite track: Urine Trouble Now.

Darknight There's some stunning sludgy weirdness going on here, riffs galore with some great song titles. WOORMS sound like a disturbing mix of the Melvins and Neurosis created by some weird anomaly. Slake is one stunning record! Favorite track: Urine Trouble Now.

Crypt Guard Woorms thundering debut is a frenzied blend of sludge and noise combined with guileful songcraft, a rumbling avalanche threatening to suffocate by weight alone, a record that summons the raw ferocity of bands like Unsane or early Melvins.

Formed in 2017 in Louisiana, WOORMS – featuring guitarist/vocalist Joey Carbo, bassist John Robinson, and drummer Aaron Polk – are something of a sleeping colossus. Based in Baton Rouge, the band has been delivering a devastating and brutal mélange of riffs and noise-rock righteousness on the precipice of significance for some time.

Yet despite only being a year or so into their sonic existence WOORMS has already racked up a number of releases; a collection of demos, digital one-offs (‘Daddy Was A Masker,’ 'The Math Says, Yes') and a split with NOLA thrashers, A Hanging.

WOORMS are now set to return with their debut album, "Slake" which gets its official release on January 18th 2019. Two cuts from the record have already caused a stir with ‘Mouth is a Wound’ premiering at Decibel Magazine and a second track 'Find a Meal, Find a Bed, Find a God' which, for all intents and purposes is the perfect introduction to the band.

WOORMS come across like a lumbering, symphonic noise-rock shank fight between the fattest of riffs and the thinnest of patience with the world at large. Making for a devastatingly terse and perverse experience, from the pinnacle to the point of no return, their new record "Slake" falls psychotically through the fuzz and unholy grind of bands like KARP, Jesus Lizard and Neurosis

"Slake" will be released digitally and on limited colour vinyl with full Colour gatefold sleeve in partnership with ourselves and Hospital Records

This album is an absolute banger. The riffs are especially groovy this time, the vocals are amazing, and the overall thing is supercatchy. If I'd have to list one downside, it's that the mix is so bass-heavy that the sound only truely comes into it's right when listened on good headphones or extremely good speakers. On anything less it can sound like the bass drowns the rest of the music out. 9/10 Buzzario

Merci Déhà for the download code. Lots of bands use these ingredients – pretty female vocals over doomy guitars always sounds good, but usually that's where the ideas run out. That isn't the case here. Each song is packed with ideas and evolutions, genres and references it's boring to list but not at all to listen to. A pleasure to have been introduced to this. Luke
